We want Miranda as bug free as you do, so help us help you. The most important thing to remember when reporting bugs is to provide provide complete and accurate information. Most of our time is spent asking for more information and fixing/updating information. If you can't take the time to read and adhere to these guidelines, please don't report.

Before reporting a bug

Good bug reports

  • Don't include information that is emotional or irrelevant
  • Don't change the Severity field, unless
- you are experiencing a crash, select Crash
- you are experiencing data loss, select Major
  • Are in English
  • Are clear and descriptive
  • Provide step-by-step instructions so we can reproduce the issue
  • Attach a screenshot if you can "see" the issue
  • Attach a Version information report
  • Attach a Dr Watson log if you are experiencing crashes:
- To enable Dr Watson, Start Menu->Run-> "drwtsn32 -i"
- Crash logs can be found in c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\

After reporting a issue

  • Monitor the issues you report, and provide feedback and additional information if requested
  • Post a note confirming when a issue has been resolved
  • Don't argue about whether something is a bug or not
