A profile (database) is a data file with a .dat extension which contains settings and one-on-one chat histories.

Default location
Windows 95, 98, ME
The default location on these systems is in the same as the folder you installed Miranda.
Windows NT, 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 7
The default location on these systems is %APPDATA%\Miranda, which on Windows NT, 2000, XP, 2003 expands to C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Miranda and on Vista and 7 expands to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Miranda.
Changing location
- Open mirandaboot.ini and find the "ProfileDir=" entry.
- Change the location it points to.
- If you want to use your existing profile, copy it to the new location.
- Restart Miranda.
Making a backup
You may be asked to backup your profile before installing or upgrading plugins, or before upgrading Miranda. Simply make a copy of your existing profile data file and put it somewhere safe.
Creating a new profile
Execute Miranda executable while pressing [ctrl] key. This starts Miranda's Profile Manager, where you may create user profiles.
